Last year, Dr. Adrienne was out of town for a seminar. While she was gone, she noticed that her usual congestion in her left nostril was completely gone! This got her thinking. She has been working to clear parasites from the sinuses, but could it be something else? There was a certain difference in Boise versus at home.
A friend used Quantum Nutrition Testing to evaluate Dr. Adrienne and found mold! They tested and found 2 areas in her home that contained mold and made the connection there. She then started the journey of opening sheet rock and remediating it properly. If you simply apply “mold removing paint” over existing mold will not remove the toxic damage that will continue. It is a dirty band-aid, not a solution to the problem.
Now the question, why is mold so bad?
Mold Mycotoxins
Mycotoxins are very toxic compounds given off by certain types of mold. While most molds we encounter are not dangerous, there are some molds that produce gas-like substances called mycotoxins. These are very similar to a volatile organic compound (VOC) and can be very detrimental to health.
If you are genetically susceptible to them, these mycotoxins can take a serious toll on your health, especially if your immune system is already compromised by an autoimmune or other health condition.
According to Dr. Jack Wolfson, DO – Cardiologist
Mycotoxin exposure can lead to Coronary artery disease, HBP, heart failure and dyslipidemia. They interfere with the formation of muscle cells and with the contraction of the heart muscle. AFIB, VFIB and other heart rhythm issues.
Symptoms of Mycotoxin poisoning:
- Cognitive difficulties (brain fog, poor memory, anxiety)
- Pain (especially abdominal pain, but can include muscle pain similar to fibromyalgia)
- Unexplained weight gain or weight loss
- Numbness and tingling in extremities or other areas of the body
- Vertigo or dizziness
- Digestive issues (especially limited tolerance to food, persistent bloating)
- Significant fatigue that interferes with daily activities
- Changes in mood
- Excessive thirst and dehydration, bed-wetting in children
- Symptoms that resemble hormone imbalances (hair loss, rashes)
What happens inside the body when dealing with mold poisoning?
Decreased glutathione production, inflammation, increased gut permeability and it messes with the gut microbiome.
What do you do if you think that you have mold?
At-home testing kits exist and can be purchased through Amazon or Home Depot for less than $100 – “Mold OK”, “My Mold Detective”, “Health Metric, Mold Test” are a few of them available.
